The World Cup starts tomorrow and I'm officially a soccer fan for the next month
There's something about international sports that makes me a fan of every sport
I’m not a soccer fan. To be honest I can’t name a single person on the Team USA roster.
But I guarentee you I’ll be watching every tea USA game and a bunch of other World cup games. Why? First because I love this great country and secondly because it’s international competition and everything is just so much bigger on the world stage.
When I think of Olympic international competition and the USA, I think of the 1992 Dream Team, the 2008 Redeem Team, the 2000 Olympic Baseball Team, the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” team, Mary Lou Retton’s perfect 10 floor and vault routines, Michael Phelps winning 23 Olympic gold medals, and so many more great moments.
We are missing a men’s World Cup though.
The women’s team has won four (1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019). They also have four Olympic gold medals (1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012).
The Barstool Sportsbook has Team USA listed at (+20000) to win it all. It’s a long shot as it is every World Cup, but “I beleive that we will win.”
