Pete Carroll isn't done yet
The former USC and Seahawks coach is attempting to build another team into a champion.
Pete Carroll is the man!
He’s a true legend in the coaching game, and he wants to go out on his own terms. When he was fired from the Seahawks following the 2023 season, it was obvious he wasn’t done.
Well…he’s back. It’s with the Raiders, a team who’s fallen deep into mediocraty and has a fanbase filled with reprobates, but Carroll thrives on building trash organizations into winners. He did it at USC, he did it with the Seahawks, and will likely do it with the Raiders.
Growing up in L.A, and being a USC fan, the Carroll led Trojans gave me so many great memories growing up. There wasn’t much to root for in the years prior. The last two years of John Robinson’s second stint with the team, and the disasterious Paul Hackett years left the team in shambles.
For many of us living in the Greater Los Angeles area, USC was our home football team for the 20+ year NFL absence in the area. Saturday’s in L.A. during the 2000’s were about the Trojans. It was bigger than any NFL team could have been. It was a Holywood type enviroment, even during practice.
No person with any intelligence actually rooted for little brother UCLA 12-miles up the road. Their football program has always been a joke. They were once a powerhouse in basketball deacades ago under coach John Wooden, haven’t done much since, except for the fluke 1995 season, but have always been a joke in football.
And that’s a fact!
I’ve claimed in the past that I hate The Raiders, but the truth is that hate has turned into pitty. The once proud organization that owner Al Davis led by the “Just Win Baby,” philosophy is long gone. Pete Carroll, with his “Win Forever” philosophy, is bringing back that winning mindset. Something that they have been missing for a long time.
I’m not exactly looking forward to it, but Pete is a winner. They will win with him as head coach.
